21 Weeks Pregnant

As you reach pregnancy 21 week, your baby continues to develop. The lungs are growing even more, but there is evidence that your baby’s sense of taste is developing. Your baby weighs about 10 – 14 ounces, and you at 21 weeks pregnant begin to perceive more of your baby’s movements which let you know that your baby is healthy. You can maintain a pregnancy calendar which will record your baby’s development. You may notice some changes in your breasts including enlargement. Some mothers may notice a decrease in blood pressure.

Most women enjoy the stage of 21 weeks of pregnancy. They have survived early pregnancy symptoms and have gone through the stages of a pregnancy test, and are not so big that they feel uncomfortable. This is the time to enjoy your pregnancy. Your baby’s eyelids have been formed and he or she is moving around. As your baby swallows amniotic fluid, the digestive tract is continuing to mature.

As you tend to gain more weight from pregnancy week 21, you may find that varicose veins appear. Pressure from the uterus and blood flow changes can make varicose veins worse. Always keep a healthy diet and avoid urinary infections by drinking 6 – 8 glasses of water each day and unsweetened cranberry juice. A pregnancy calendar is a good way of keeping a record of your baby’s growth. Your baby will begin to fill out over the next few weeks. His eyelids are still closed but frequent wiggles will let you know he is awake.

Now that your body is accustomed to the new addition, you will notice that several pregnancy symptoms will disappear. Nausea during early pregnancy is a thing of the past. You may experience itchiness and see stretch marks as your body continues to expand. Once you are 21 weeks pregnant you ought to have more anxiety about labor and motherhood as the reality of your baby’s birth draws near. Keep calm, prepare your nursery and enjoy this stage of your pregnancy.
