Pregnancy Week4

Week four of pregnancy can clear all doubts with a pregnancy test. However some females take longer to produce the HGC hormone which actually shows a positive result but there will be other definite signs like a missed period along with fatigue and nausea and cramps in the abdomen. Others may have breasts which become swollen and tender and frequent need to urinate. The symptoms and signs on pregnancy are very similar to the ones which arise when a period is about to come, but when the parents have been planning a pregnancy they automatically know that this is it.

The embryo by now is very much like a tadpole and is firmly implanted in the lining of the uterus. The placenta is developing and the amniotic sac is nourishing the fetus. The placenta transports oxygen and has a vascular network which supplies the fetus with nutrients from the mothers system. This is the embryonic period and it is a crucial period for the development of the baby and the mother has to think seriously of her pregnancy diet which should be healthy and nourishing.

Folic acid is a must during early pregnancy. This helps in reducing the possibilities of preterm births, miscarriages, and defects of the neural tubes. PCB’s and pesticides should not be used around a pregnant mother and if there is any of this stuff lying around the house it is better to get rid of it for the present. Now is the time, during week four of pregnancy that a visit to the obstetrician is needed and after this there should be regular follow ups.

Being careful during the pregnancy first weeks is important for the unborn child and the mother and this is when no amount of care and precaution should be denied. The care you take of yourself and the baby will pay you rich dividends later.
